To set-up your Email program, Outlook/Outlook Express/Eudora etc., you will require the following settings:-
Email address: You should know this one! (not case sensitive)
User name: May or May Not be as per your email address, given to you by SeaWebs at start up.
Password: Given to you at start up.
NOTE: Both the above are "Case Sensitive"
Server settings:
POP3: yourdomain.com (note there is NO www. )
SMTP: yourdomain.com (It is better to use your ISP's SMTP, this should be available at their web site)
NOTE: If you do use your SMTP as above, you must place a tick in the box that says:_
"My outgoing(smtp)server requires Authentication"
That is all ...... leave ALL other settings as per their default.
Email us if you have forgotten your User Name and/or Password

We can organise email forwarding for those occasional times when you are totaly unable for one reason or another, to use your email program or access Imanager. Please contact us should you require help on this topic.
Note that we will NOT forward any email to: Hotmail/Gmail/Yahoo/Aol
Yes, but think carefully to make sure you don't get too many copies around! Think about using POP3 and "imanager" together or just email forwarding.
SeaWebs introduced its "imanager" to enable those of you who have POP3 mail for efficient working at home or in the Office .. but .. who would also like the benefit enjoyed by "web" based mail users when out and about. The "imanager" allows you to deal with your mail, receive/reply/send new mail, from any online computer anywhere in the world, at sea or on land. One of the main features of "imanager" is that unless you deliberately "Delete" an email, all your important incoming mail will still be on your server for when you eventually return to your Home Base. To access "imanager" ... www.yourdomainname.com/imanager and then enter your correct "User Name" and "password" when prompted.

The answer to this is the SeaWebs "imanager" specially developed for those people who move around and want access to their email at places like a Cyber Cafe or other online computers.
Find "imanager" in any Browser at www.yourdomain.com/imanager and then enter your "User Name" and "Password" at the prompt.
Remember: as long as you do NOT delete an item, it will still be there to download when you next get your email at your main computer.

This is not a SeaWebs Hosting problem but one that does come up now and again. If you are on a very slow connection, Satcom or Cell, you could always turn off your "Images" in Internet Explorer or Netscape (Options and Settings) and then choose to look at only the images you want. I am sure this is also possible in AOL so to someone out there who is an AOL expert, please let us know how it is done in AOL.

This will happen if your email has a large attachment and especially if you have, as you should, an anti virus protection. To solve this is a perfect use for "imanager" log onto www.yourdomainname.com/imanager and root out and if necessary, delete the offending email.
Please see the Answer to Question #1.
Can I change my email Password?
Yes, if you have POP3 you may change your password in "imanager" after logging on. If you use email forwarding you don't have a password to change.

Can I mix "upper" and "lower" case letters in my email address?
Yes, me@myowndomain.com is the same as Me@MyOwnDomain.com

Most Unlikely, if you have problems logging into your email, first try to bring up your web site in your Browser, if the site comes up then the problem lies with your email software or your ISP.

Depending upon your camera and what you take pictures for, your image file for each photo can be small or very large. High Quality is the norm if you wish to print your photos especially if you are looking to make large size prints. For Internet viewing or sending to friends, a much lower resolution will look just as good and not have your visitors waiting for hours whilst each photo downloads.
There is very little point in having a photo larger than 600x400 pixels for Browser viewing, over this size requires scrolling off the page to see it all and then you have lost the overall effect of the composition. Photos of this size should end up with a file size of less than 100k, down from originals of up to 1MB. At SeaWebs we suggest not sending any email that is larger than 400k including attachments, this way you would send a group of photos totaling around 1600k (1.5MB) as 4 separate emails.
Remember if you are sending Photos to SeaWebs, please send to photos@seawebs.com with a short email also to support@seawebs.com to tell us to look at the "photos" box.

Very, it is looked after by NTT/Viaverio who are the largest server management company in the world. Your site is backed up every day on another server and your site is also "mirrored" on another server many thousands of miles away just in case a disaster should occur at the main site. It would be very rare for your server to be other than at top performance. Only the Best is good enough for SeaWebs and our Clients.

Can I mix "upper" and "lower" case letters in my Domain Address?
Yes, www.myowndomain.com is the same as www.MyOwnDomain.com

This is one of the most asked questions and one of the most difficult to answer. One way to look at it is to see your site as an "Online Brochure" .. the brochure on your office desk is of absolutely no use unless you mail it out or hand it out at shows and relevant places. It would be no use to stand on a street corner and give it to everyone who came by, you have to target the type of person who would be interested in your product or service. The hard copy Brochure is also out of date the moment it arrives from the printers, make sure you keep your website bang up to date ... SeaWebs is only an email away and we want you to be successful.
Suggestion #1
While you are surfing the Internet you sometimes come across a site that is of general interest to "your type of client" ... take a look and see if they have a way for you to put a short little note about your service and a link back to your site, there are many of these sites in the Marine and Yachting Industry. Find a site that you would feel happy with a link from, maybe they would ask for a return link to their site which we can do for you easily and, of course, for free!
Suggestion #2
With a very adequate web brochure, a small advertisement in a relevant publication will direct prospective clients to your site where they will find out all about you and your product or service. Perhaps also small notices in places your prospective clients frequent. All these items need only be small because once the reader visits your site he/she will find all the answers.
Suggestion #3
This one is already in place on your site. When we built your site, we added some "behind the scenes" "Keywords" that related to you, and your business, we tried to be as cleaver as we could and we do change these from time to time. These "keywords" relate to the words that people use in their chosen search engine when hunting for ??? ... Ask yourself what word or words you would use if you were looking for people who offered your service or goods ......... but remember ... if there are more than 10 people in your line of business, how can you expect to be in the "Top Ten"? If you manufactured "Dibblywinbangles" and we put that one word in your site, there is a pretty good chance that you would come up Top in most search engines! Ponder carefully on all that is in this "#3 suggestion" and send us around 20 "key Words" that we can put in your site, then watch and see ...
Suggestion #4
This is the one that everyone thinks is the absolute answer ...... Submit your site to the Search Engines. All the search engines "spider" out to find new and altered sites to take the details back to their "Library of Sites" it is this "Library of Sites" that you go to when you enter your "Search String of Words" in your chosen Search Engine. There are many Companies on the web that will submit your site for you so you don't have to wait for the "spider" to come, we think you should be wary of anyone charging less than $50 per month, there is a lot of time involved. Many of these Submission companies will give you "Keywords" to use .. maybe even "Dibblywinbangles" There are also many "Do It Yourself" submission sites out there and we feel that these may be one of your best bets, do it on a regular basis and if you wish to change the "Keywords" from time to time, just email them to us.
Final Comment
The best use of a web site for a small company is "word of mouth" ... just get that web address out in the areas that your prospective clients move in, make sure that what you offer is a little unique, maybe in approach or price or quality or a combination of all those but do make sure that there is a reason for someone wanting to select you and your product or service over another. Have a long look at your site and see if it is time to be a little more forward with your uniqueness. A web site is a great tool as it can be changed so easily to match the change in times or to show how you are keeping up with new regulations in your industry. Perhaps you should have a list of past and present clients if that would be a good sales point.

You will receive your invoice by email each year, one month before it is due. Upon receipt of the Invoice, please let us know how you intend to pay.

Our changeover at the start of 2002, to our own servers has meant a lot of work and a little more expense but all this was worthwhile in order to give us greater flexibility with hosting plans. There is no thought of fee increases at the moment, especially as we continue to take on more sites, it is the continued increase in the number of sites that is the key to the continued low cost of full site management and hosting to you, ............ so .... please keep your ears open and try to direct us some more clients. Sorry to say that there is no "Bonus Point" scheme at the moment, your real incentive to find new clients is to keep your cost from rising.

Can I move my site to another Hosting Company?
You are free to take your business away from SeaWebs at any time but you should remember that your site design and email functions were designed to work on our servers with our software so you would have to start again with a new site design to work on your new Host's server. Please let us know if and why you wish to move, we may be able to save you the trouble.

What happens to my site and email if SeaWebs disappears?
Not a happy question but although we have no intention of going anywhere yet, should that happen in the distant future, the most important thing to remember is that your Domain Name is Registered in Your Name at Your Address so it will always be yours to take away and do whatever you wish with it. As for the hosting, if you are paid up to date, your site is hosted till that expiration because we pay, in advance, for your server to be monitored ..... so you see .... you have nothing to worry about and absolutely nothing to lose ..... except to realize how much you would miss SeaWebs ;-))
